God’s Perfect Plan

blog picture perfect planFor I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Have you ever wondered why you were going through something? I have. Sometimes it doesn’t seem to make sense. Why would the Lord let someone lose a job, let a house burn, let a divorce happen, let someone young get a serious disease?

I remember when I had to take my children for their immunizations. They could not understand why they had to get a needle in their arm. I could not explain it to them. It was too complicated: immunity, vaccine, eventual protection from a disease and antibodies. They were just too little to understand. Later when they were older they had enough understanding of the world for me to explain. But it still hurt to get a shot!

When we are going through a difficult time it helps to remember that the Lord has a plan and a purpose for our lives. He is not out to harm us. He has known us and the entire spectrum of our lives. We know He knew us from before the world was formed. He is not confused or unsure. He does not make mistakes. I know that some of our problems stem from our own choices; some come from the out side. But the Lord has factored in all our mistakes, bad choices and the world we live in. We can trust Him to work things out for us. We may not understand why something is happening to us, but we can trust our loving Creator who long ago developed a plan and purpose for our lives.

Jesus is Lord!
