“Yes,’ the king replied, ‘and to those who use well what they are given, even more will be given. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away. And as for these enemies of mine who didn’t want me to be their king—bring them in and execute them me.’” Luke 19:26
We easily recall the parable of the master who went on a trip and left three servants with money. He gave the money according to the ability of each one. When he returned the servants with ten and five minas had each doubled their money, but the one with one mina had hidden his money away and did nothing with it.
What was the difference between the three? Only the third one was afraid and so he did nothing with the minas he was given. The first two had boldly invested; the third had buried his money where it did no one any good.
The Lord gives gifts to each of us according to our abilities. He fully expects us to use those gifts for the glory of God. Not for selfish ambition, but to please the Lord. [Read more…]
